Keep Fit
Our signature program for the past 20 years at Cedar Heights has been our Co-ed Keep Fit Programs. Our certified, volunteer instructors lead two levels of classes on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. Level 1 at 9 a.m., involves a warm up, cardio, a cool- down, exercises with hand weights or bands and stretching on a mat. Level 2 at 10:45 a.m. is more suited to individuals with mobility issues. There is no mat work in the Level 2 program. Chairs are set out to assist with balance.
Your membership in any of our fitness programs includes a mandatory association membership that can be used to access many other benefits at Cedar Heights. Join us for an hour or so of exercise and the coffee get togethers that often follow.
Yoga
We have a Co-ed Yoga Class every Wednesday morning from 11:00 - 12:00. This class is held on the upper floor of the centre and is taught by our volunteer instructor Lisa Smithwitch. The program starts at level 1 and will progress as participants progress.

Carpet Bowling
Carpet bowling is variation of lawn bowling adapted to play indoors. Cedar Heights offers this activity on a scheduled basis during the winter months as another opportunity to socialize and enjoy friendly competition. The balls used in carpet bowling differ from bocce balls in the sense that they are weighted on one side, allowing for the balls to follow an arc toward the jack. Drop-in visitors are welcomed during the scheduled time of play. However, a season’s membership in carpet bowling allows you free drop-in play or scheduled play with a group on the bocce courts in the summer months.
Shuswap Dojo
The Dojo teaches the Okinawan Goju Ryu style of Karate and offers classes to children (7 to 10 years old) and youths/adults (11+) two evenings a week (Tuesday and Thursday); over 80 students are enrolled in the classes. Goju Ryu is an effective style of self-defence practiced by persons of all ages in a safe and friendly environment. The Dojo is a member of the Shorei-Kan Canada Karate Association; the Association is a non-profit organization and all instructors are volunteers. We have been a tenant of the Cedar Heights Social Centre since 2011. For more information and online registration, visit our website or send us an e-mail:
